Shelter Assistance Fund

The Shelter Assistance Fund (SAF) is a state-funded program that typically supports the costs of operations of group home shelters for the homeless and domestic violence shelters.

 Eligible Applicants

  • City governments
  • County governments
  • Nonprofit service agencies

Please note that individuals may not apply directly to the Iowa Finance Authority for assistance. If you are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk of becoming homeless, there are several programs around the State of Iowa that can offer assistance. We encourage you to contact a local service provider in your area or call (833) 739-0065 to see what options may be available to you.
